After two weeks of rehearsal at SUNY Purchase College in New York, the NYO-USA flew across the globe for an extraordinary tour, in which they shared their music with audiences in seven cities across China. For their 2015 program, the orchestra had the opportunity to play under the baton of conductor Charles Dutoit, premiering a newly commissioned work from award-winning Chinese composer Tan Dun, as well as performing Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor,” with guest soloist YUNDI.
