[About Carnival Radiance]

Carnival Radiance is the third in Carnival Cruise Line’s Sunshine class, which consists of Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Sunrise, and Carnival Radiance. Instead of getting rid of older ships, the cruise line made the decision to invest $200 million into each vessel and give them a new name. Previously Carnival Destiny (Sunshine) and Carnival Triumph (Sunrise) underwent this transformation in 2013 and 2019, respectively.

Carnival first announced the transformation of Carnival Victory into Carnival Radiance in 2019. The ship eventually debuted from the West Coast in December 2021. The vessel was delayed because of shipyard closures and supply chain issues surrounding the cruise industry shutdown.

Carnival Victory was starting to show its age, so during the massive dry dock many furnishings were updated and features were added. Some of the refreshed or new venues included Shaq’s Big Chicken, Guy’s Burger Joint, Guy’s Pig & Anchor BBQ, BlueIguana Cantina, Heroes Tribute Bar, Alchemy Bar, RedFrog Pub, Cucina del Capitano, JavaBlue Cafe, and a refreshed Serenity area. The cruise line also rebranded some of the existing lounges, such as the midship lounge into the Limelight Lounge, also known as the Punchliner Comedy Club.
